'The war years' quarry exhibition to be held in Buxton in November

‘The War Years’ will be the theme of a special Quarry Exhibition, being held by Tarmac at Buxton Methodist church from Saturday 5th to Sunday 13th November. Lord lieutenant presents Sheffield software company with Queens Award

On Friday 16th September Sheffield-based Software Company 3Squared welcomed the Lord Lieutenant, Mr Andrew Coombe, the Queen’s representative in South Yorkshire, to present the citation and scroll to staff to mark their achievement of the Queen’s Award for innovation.

The Lord Lieutenant met James Fox, Commercial Director and Tim Jones, Managing Director at the company’s Fountain Precinct offices and was introduced to the 40 strong team of software designers, developers, testers and support staff who have all played a key role in the company securing this prestigious business accolade.

Parker wins major contract to supply three arctic vessels

Sheffield-based Parker Bestobell Marine, a world leading supplier of cryogenic valves has received a major new order from DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering) in South Korea to supply cryogenic valves for three new vessels.

The company’s valves will be used in the cargo handling systems, including the main discharge line that controls the initial flow of Liquefied Natural Gas from the cargo tanks when pumping starts.  The three vessels are part of the Yamal series of Arc7 ice-class LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers that will be operated in Arctic winter conditions.  Parker Bestobell Marine previously supplied the first vessel in the series with its cryogenic globe and check valves and that vessel will be the only one owned by Sovcomflot of Russia.
