Pandrol to demonstrate latest aluminothermic welding innovations at IAF exhibition, Germany

i+align

Leading rail infrastructure solution provider Pandrol will be showcasing its innovative i+weld and i+align solutions at the IAF International Exhibition of Track and Technology (31 May to 2 June 2025) in Münster, Germany.

Pandrol’s Technical Team will be carrying out practical demonstrations of the revolutionary i+weld advanced welding solution, which was first seen at InnoTrans 2024.  i+weld helps track welders to complete more welds in less time with semi-automated processes that reduce the physical strain on welders and streamline training.

Visitors will also be treated to a demonstration of  i+align, which is an innovative lightweight alignment system for aluminothermic welding. Easy to set up and use, the i+align system can be handled by one person, who simply chooses alignment parameters (for example rail type and peak), and presses start on a tablet. The rail is then automatically aligned within a couple of minutes, providing exceptional accuracy for the welder and offering complete traceability.

I+align also provides access to real-time data to improve traceability and safety, making it the smart choice for networks and contractors, especially in light of skilled labour shortages.

Nicolas Demond, Head of Engineering ATW/EQC at Pandrol explains: “We have had a fantastic response to i+weld since its launch.  The solution gives rail contractors greater visibility and control over the welding process, enabling them to complete more welds in less time, with semi-automated processes that reduce the physical strain on welders and streamline training. We are looking forward to demonstrating both i+weld and i+align at the IAF exhibition.  These two solutions work perfectly in combination to provide confident track alignment, leading to greater accuracy, increased safety and greater productivity from welds.”

Both these innovations demonstrate Pandrol’s passion for innovation using a wealth of experience gathered over the decades.

At the exhibition, Pandrol will also be showcasing its range of signalling equipment, rail fastening systems, track measurement and analysis systems.

The company will also be displaying its SRS (Sustainable Resilient Systems), which utilised recycled rubber to offer noise and vibration control through innovations like Floating Slab Mat, QTrack, Under Ballast Mat and Under Sleeper pads, which are being specified for some of the world’s most prominent rail lines.

With rail infrastructure in over 100 countries, Pandrol continues to set benchmarks in sustainable business practices, prioritising people, planet and performance.

Pandrol defines the industry standard for rail fastening systems and aluminothermic welding. Its capabilities cover manufacturing castings and plastics, track electrification as well as creating equipment for track construction, fastening installation and welding. Pandrol’s sustainable, resilient systems extend the life of track, whilst Pandrol’s track analysis solutions enable proactive maintenance.
