A cracking first quarter for our clients and our team

Over the past three months, the Dragonfly PR team has been busy supporting our clients with a number of key public relations, content marketing and digital media campaigns. This includes helping to plan and successfully carry out two major client events, supporting one client with a major company rebrand, carrying out general press office management, drafting award entries and we’ve even helped to spread the word about a new film launch!

Here, we look at just a few of the key campaigns that our team have worked on this quarter and also take a look at what has been going on behind the scenes here at Dragonfly PR since the start of 2022.

SYMCA Economic Summit

As part of the drive to create a greener and fairer economy for the region, our client the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) held the first South Yorkshire Economic Summit in Sheffield on 9th March.

The event was attended by over 160 business leaders, academics and innovators, including keynote speakers Andy Haldane, Head of the Government’s Levelling Up Taskforce, South Yorkshire Mayor Dan Jarvis MP MBE, and Lucy Nickson, Chair of the South Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

The landmark Summit explored the huge potential and opportunities for South Yorkshire. It looked at how the focus needs to be on building a skills and talent system that underpins economic transformation, and the benefits of introducing a new finance system that unlocks institutional, commercial, equity and community development finance in South Yorkshire.

A part of our ongoing work with SYMCA is to create positive content for and promote the organisation through multiple different channels and the Economic Summit was no exception. In the run up to the event, we provided public relations and press office support, as well as social media management to raise awareness of the event. On the day, we supported the team with media chaperoning and journalist meetings. We also helped to manage video interviews with attendees and speakers to create a catalogue of vox-pop that can be used across the website, social media channels and in other marketing later down the line.

Throughout the day, our social media team were also on hand to provide live coverage of the event on Twitter. We listened intently to each presentation and seminar to collate key points from the speakers which were then tweeted in real-time. In doing so we created a live-stream for Twitter followers and provided them with live updates into what was being discussed/announced as it happened. With no less than 80 posts shared the SYMCA Twitter feed by the end of the Summit, there was a lot to keep up with!

Elliott re-branding to Algeco

Algeco (formerly Elliott) is the leading supplier of modular building solutions throughout Europe and Asia Pacific.

Since January, our PR and social media teams have been working to support the Elliott Group to carry out a major rebrand to become Algeco. Both are owned by Modulaire so it was a clear strategic move to unite under Algeco, the leading modular brand in Europe. To achieve this, we put together a well thought out strategy for PR, advertising and social media and supported partner agencies with a new website, content creation, SEO and PPC.

In addition, we are also supporting the company with its long-term PR and social media requirements. So, for the rebrand we have been managing the day-to-day press office and content marketing activities, including developing a full twelve-month public relations strategy, drafting case studies, press releases, features and monthly social media schedules. We have also been providing weekly and monthly reports on all activity and results, which we carry out as standard for many of our clients.

Get up to Speed with STEM

Get up to Speed with STEM is one of the UK’s biggest science, technology, engineering, manufacturing (STEM) and construction showcase for young people. Held annually at the Magna Science Adventure Centre and organised by The Work-Wise Foundation, the event is designed to inspire students from 8 to 25 years about careers in science, technology and the manufacturing industries, through interactive activities and exhibitions.

It also gives young people the chance to see some of the UK’s most exciting STEM innovations and meet the people who design, build and operate them. Meanwhile, companies taking part can showcase their business, highlight career opportunities and current vacancies and meet with other businesses, whilst helping to address the skills gap in STEM-related industries.

Dragonfly PR has been a member of the voluntary support committee for Get up to Speed for many years. As part of our role on the committee, we help to organise the event and manage all public relations requirements before, during and after the showcase.

This year, Get up to Speed marked its tenth live event and with more than 3,500 young people and over 200 business-people in attendance it was also its most successful - reaching the highest number of visitors since the showcase began in 2011.

As voluntary PR partner, we provided our public relations services to help raise awareness through regional and trade media coverage (in print and online). This helped to secure more attendees and encourage more businesses to get involved than ever before. In addition, we supported the event throughout the day by organising media interviews with press, radio and TV and secured attendance from many regional and business journalists.

Extending our roster and our team

In addition to a host of great campaigns and marketing strategies we have been carrying out this quarter, we have also been busy securing new clients. This includes being appointed to provide PR and social media support for Algeco which, as previously mentioned we have helped to rebrand from Elliott. We have also been appointed to provide public relations and content marketing support for Biotecture a leader in living wall systems and Soltech Systems, which has a reputation for the quality of its commercial blinds, curtains and shading solutions.

As a result of this, and after seeing fantastic growth in 2021, we have also expanded our team with the appointment of Sylvia Kusnierz as our new Public Relations & Digital Media Executive. With a background in journalism and both in-house and agency experience in the Built and Energy Sectors, Sylvia is proving to be a great addition to our team and is already working on a number of key campaigns with some of our construction and manufacturing clients.

It’s safe to say that 2022 has had a great start and with lots of plans in place for our clients and our business for the rest of the year, we’re already looking forward to putting together out quarter two round-up…watch this space!
