Review of the year 2014

Review of 20142014 has been a memorable year for many – the year that Andy Murray didn’t quite win Wimbledon and England crashed badly out of the World Cup.  Never mind, there have been some highlights…

January

We started the New Year with a bang, with over 5,500 visits to our ‘Reasons to be Cheerful‘ blog!

Our client Gala Tent launches a new business selling environmentally friendly patio heaters, for which we provide PR,design and marketing support.

February

In February we started a new PR campaign for 3Squared, the software development specialist with offices in London and Sheffield.

We have been helping the rapidly growing company to raise its profile within the rail and construction sectors nationally, with great results.

March

After many weeks of work in compiling a database with over 700 products and full category descriptions, we launched the new Heavenly Coffee Company website.

March was a big push for many of our clients at Ecobuild. Needless to say we were busy meeting and greeting all the architecture and construction media down at Excel in London.

April

Our PR Director Marina was appointed to the Institute of Directors’ South Yorkshire board.

We were successful in securing a new social media campaign with carpet manufacturer Heckmondwike FB to promote its new Array range – which became our most successful social media campaign to date with over 1.8m online engagements within six months.

We successfully secure a new business win with one of Yorkshire’s most successful window showrooms: Ilkley Windows.

May

Our client Eurosafe Solutions secures a major contract with the iconic Kelpies project – Scotland’s largest art installation.  The client delivers a work at height solution for the ladders for the 30m tall, 300 tonne horse heads based in Falkirk.  We secured some excellent regional and national press coverage for this exciting project.

June

June saw the World Cup starting and the Dragonfly PR team running a number of social media and SEOcampaigns for clients along this theme.

July

In July we were well and truly in the spirit of Le Tour de Yorkshire and many of our clients hosted events throughout the region.  Our client Heckmondwike FB was asked to supply a bright yellow floorcovering for the steps of Leeds Town Hall, from where cyclists departed on day 2 – and it certainly made for some iconic photos!

In July we won a new account with Direct Plastics, a national distributor of engineering plastics to the manufacturing sector.   We also design their e-newsletters delivering fortnightly updates to customers.

Our client Gala Tent won the Business Excellence awards run by Acquisition International.

August

Our new website for Sheffcare is launched.  Our SEO work helps to improve the organisation’s ranking significantly and increases visitor numbers significantly within the first few months.

In August we started working with Huthwaite International, the sales management training company, to promote its Negotiation Skills programmes.  This saw our involvement with an international survey of 1,500 business people across 32 countries, which revealed some startling facts about how business people negotiate.  From this we were able to use our expertise to secure a large number of articles in business and national publications across the world.

September

We launched a new website for international pallet management company Whirlowdale in September.  We now manage the company’s social media activity on an ongoing basis.

At the end of September, we started working with Lafarge Tarmac, one of the UK’s largest cement producers.  We now deliver community engagement campaigns for their plants in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Dragonfly PR set the world on fire for Ramtech Electronics after they choose us in a three-way pitch to raise awareness of their new WES+ (Wireless Emergency System).

October

In October we secured an account win with AESSEAL, the high precision manufacturer of industrial seals to the engineering and related industries.  Our trade PR campaign provides thought leadership articles in AESSEAL’s key sectors including Oil & Gas.

Our client Newark and Sherwood Homes is awarded the accolade of Top Landlord in a national campaign run by 24 housing magazine.

We launched a new group website for Panel Systems, which brought together over 20 individual websites and effectively launched the company’s three new business divisions.

November

Our client President Engineering Group won the regional and national Manufacturer of the year award from the British Chambers of Commerce, after we completed a successful entry.

In November we completed the new website for HWL Group, helping the business to further promote its door and window services across the UK.

With the awards season upon us, we entered 3Squared and S3ID into the Sheffield Business Awards – with great results.  3Squared secured the Retail Award and S3ID the international business award.

December

Investec Wealth & Investment announced it would run another Ashes Cycle Challenge in 2015, after raising over £250k in 2013.  Dragonfly PR was asked to provide PR and social media support for the campaign.

Just before Christmas, we launched an exciting new website for Motive8, an organisation that provides vocational training for young people in the Bradford area.  This is the first time that Motive8 has had an online presence, as part of achieving their ambitious growth targets.

Finally on Christmas eve, we tidied out our magazine cupboards and archived all our magazines from the past 5 years – a major job, but the results are well worth it!

Happy New Year!
